Jerusalem...at last!

In case you were wondering, I am blogging the Israel trip in chronological order (except for the few random shots thrown in of the "car store," because those days I just didn't have time to do a longer post.  We spent the first week in the "countryside" and the second week of our trip in and around Jerusalem itself.  The first morning we were there was WET, WET, WET, but we did manage some good pictures, especially inside some of the sites.

Our first stop was a museum in (underneath) the center of the Old City.

These are the ruins of home of a family, likely Temple priests.  The home was destroyed at the time the second temple was destroyed, during the Jewish revolt in 70 AD.  You can see the red clay pots, which are originals from the home.  The others are replicas to show you what you are looking at.

Look closely at the center of this pile of rubble and you will see a charred piece of wood.  The Romans burned much of Jerusalem at the time of the Jewish revolt.

This is another section of the museum that contains Jewish homes and buildings.  We saw plenty of Mikvahs (ritual baths) and other interesting things.
